CES, for the first and last time

Well i have tried to make it to CES for quite a few years now and never made it. I now know what i have been missing, Its not CES. Yes lots of cool stuff, actually way to much. This event is HUGE, I have multiple blisters and even walking into the airport is going to suck but the best thing i saw was sick cars and incredibly large LCD/Plasma and Projection TV's.

Yes some crazy PC stuff, but this is not Comdex, that show died. this show just kills you. Assuming i ever do this show again i will spend much more time choosing some really really good walking shoes than anything else. Only Device i saw that was running linux was the Nokia N800, i loved the industrial design. It had a seriously sick popout camera and the form factor was very nice too. I did not see if it had IR, if it does, this would make the sickest home remote control system. I have to admit it was kind of a time warp effect that stopped me dead to hear the Term "Internet Appliance" again. I have posted the few pics i took up in the Gallery. I did see one thing there i would love to have, it was a 16 Gig USB drive that looks more like a Zippo lighter. Very cool.

Syncing a phone in Linux
User Rating: / 0
Sunday, 19 November 2006
Well i have been looking at new phones and i trying out a RazrV3 from cingular for a week. Important for me is the ability to sync the thing in linux. While i could get the addressbook to sync and could access the filesystem on the phone with the tools you can download from my File Manager i was never able to get the calendar to sync, on top of that the phone had no volume. With that said - Goodbye Cingular. Ok, so its not as easy as i had hoped. So the lowest common denominator in terms of phones and the ability to sync up in linux is what is already supported.

Next choice up which i just got today is a Treo 700P, its 4 times as expensive but damn!! EVERYTHING WORKS!! Once i got kpilot to see my phone everything synced. I have now had the phone only a few hours and can already say this phone kicks ass. love it! Next up is to get the thing to sync with SugarCRM using Funambol. I have already spent a few days trying to get that setup since i new the phone was on its way. Not there yet but ill post up more info as i get it.

Assholes in CyberSpace

Ok, anyone who doesn't know me here it is. I run a computer company. When your shit breaks, i'm the guy you wake up. Like i ever get to sleep, notice its 4:51am? i just got home from my last service call a while ago and tomorrow is yet another work day.

My PR buddy Phil Gomes has for years called me the hardest working man in tech. Most of what they say about him is totally not true, but i am not sure about some of it, i know his old roomate too. ROFLOL!

Sorry if your reading this either of you. I doubt it very much though. All fun and games right...

Well perhaps not everything.

See some assholes/idiots make putting people through pain and costing them time and money, into their business plan.

"Yes, see we plan to infect computers to push out ads onto peoples systems and if we can infect enough peoples systems we can make a LOT of money"

Sounds insane, right? well that is the face of someone doing just that above riding around his offices on a Segway and if you have ever gotten spyware on your computer, this is one of the assholes responsible.
